Allens launches web ordering
Traditional Mount Street butchers Allens of Mayfair is taking its quality meat, poultry and game to the masses with the launch of a new website and online ordering.
Customers will be able to order a selection of fresh beef, lamb, pork, veal, poultry and game, as well as seasonal products and specials, such as the Steak Box, which contains a range of Scottish beef from farms in the Cairngorm National Park.
The site will also host the interactive Cut Explorer – a comprehensive, easy-to-use guide to various cuts of meat and advice on how to best use them. Whole animals are split into interactive sections and clicking on a section highlights specific cuts, methods of cooking them and the price category, making it easy for customers to select exactly what they want.
Allens is also now taking bookings for its hugely popular Butchery Classes for Beginners, which were pioneered in 2007 by co-owners David House and Justin Preston, one of the judges on BBC3’s Young Butcher of the Year.
The classes are held around the butcher’s block in Allens’ Mount Street shop every Wednesday, from 1pm to 2.30pm, and are open to a maximum of five pupils. They cover the basic preparation of different cuts of meat, taking in anything from cheap cuts – such as oxtail, lamb middle neck and beef featherblade – to roasting cuts.
