The farmer at the heart of the latest outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in Surrey has been named as Rob Lawrence, of Hardwick Park Farm in Chertsey, Surrey.

The farmer, who has a herd of Aberdeen Angus purebred and cross suckler cows, first noticed the symptoms on Tuesday night during routine checking and notified Defra immediately.

Results are still awaited on a suspected outbreak in Norfolk.
