Bpex reveals legendary star to rock Sausage Week

Legendary rock star Noddy Holder is to take up the British banger challenge by becoming the face of Bpex’s 14th annual British Sausage Week.

Holder, the front man of band Slade, will have the task of touring the country to judge the best sausages entered in the two competitions during the week’s festivities.

Holder said: “The great British Banger is a genuine legend, with incredible stories about recipes that have been handed down from generation to generation. I can’t wait to get on the road and judge the best of the best bangers out there and find out what makes those humble sausages we eat week-in, week-out so special!”

British Sausage Week will run from 31 October to 6 November and will feature a nationwide PR campaign featuring hundreds of businesses and establishments.

The ‘Legendary British Bangers’ competition is open to butchers, farm shops, sausage brands and multiple retailers, while the catering trade has its own dedicated ‘Bpex Foodservice Pork Sausage of the Year Competition’. This features five different categories to reflect and reward the wide range of sausage varieties now being served up in restaurants, pubs, schools and hospitals, including traditional pork sausage, speciality pork sausage, best pub pork sausage, best innovative pork sausage, and the legendary British banger.

The sausage is the nation’s favourite meat-based dinner, outselling chicken and minced beef and accounting for 854 million meals every year.
