Pie plan to celebrate British greats

Peter’s Food Service has launched its new awards, “The Peters”, and chosen 10 recipients it feels represent all that is British.

Boxes of steak and ale pies will be delivered across the UK during this week, and recipients will include:
• Injured/recuperating British troops in the Army Recovery Unit at Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham and the Army Recovery Centre in Erskine Edinburgh Home as a thank you from Peter’s on behalf of the British public
• British Olympic Gold medallist, Amy Williams, from Bath, who will be returning home next week after picking up a gold medal at the winter Olympics in Vancouver
• Leading British retailer Debenham’s head office staff, who have decided to celebrate the average size of British women by creating a size 16 mannequin.
• The Household Cavalry at Buckingham Palace for standing at the palace during the coldest February on record
• Chris Moyles and his team on Radio 1 for helping the British public get up in the morning
• Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield for keeping the British public up to date on current affairs and celebrity gossip every day of the week on This Morning
• Chris Evans and his team on Radio 2 for brightening the mornings of the great British public
• Top British celebrity Cheryl Cole for standing up for herself and dumping the bad boy
• British Lions scrum half Mike Phillips for getting fit again to help Wales in the 6 Nations
• The French fans flying into Great Britain for their clash against Wales in the RBS Six Nations ahead of British Pie Week

James Osgood, marketing director at Peter’s, said: “Having a nice pie in the depths of winter is one of the great things about being British and that’s why we’ve come up with the idea of ‘The Peters’.

“We wanted to create an annual giving of Peter’s products to people in the eye of the British public, whom we feel deserve recognition for their hard work, achievements or standing up for what they believe in, so what better time to do this than British Pie Week?”
