Bpex brings home the bacon
|
Bpex has unveiled dancer and presenter Anton Du Beke as their celebrity face for Bacon Connoisseurs’ Week, running from 22-28 March.
Now in its fourth consecutive year, 2010’s Week will include the ‘Bring Home the Bacon’ competition, aimed at uncovering the most outstanding smoked and unsmoked varieties, while also seeking out the Best New Bacon Flavour Profile introduced in the last 12 months.
The contest will be judged by a panel of industry experts, as well as bacon fan Anton Du Beke. Bpex said it would be a fantastic way for retailers and suppliers to promote their quality bacon varieties.
Du Beke said: “I adore bacon and find it’s a great breakfast to set me up before a day full of dance training. I’m really excited to discover the wide selection of different bacon cures out there and to experiment with cooking bacon in lunch, dinner and snack recipes too. Bring on the bacon!”
The Week will be backed by a high-profile PR campaign, which last year achieved coverage of £2.75m, educating consumers about quality bacon cures and boosting sales. The competition is open to independent and multiple retailers and suppliers, as well as suppliers to foodservice outlets and entries must be received by 3 February. The winners will be announced at a special launch event at the start of the Week.
