The 79-year-old, who received an MBE, has played an important role in the National Farmers’ Union for many years.

An OBE also went to Dr Sydney Neill, director of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences, Northern Ireland Executive, while Maureen Kavanagh, a messenger at DEFRA, was awarded an MBE.
