Views on qualifications
Food and drink companies are being asked for their views on new qualifications designed to boost skills and knowledge in the sector.
Improve - the food and drink sector skills council - has developed an Achieving Food Manufacturing Excellence qualification as one of its new work-based Improve Proficiency Qualifications (IPQs).
This looks at strategy, leadership and management, with a focus on managing effective change in a way that benefits a company. It also looks at techniques taken from lean manufacturing and sustainable business strategy and focuses on their application in food and drink.
IPQs are based on a system of units of assessment, which learners accumulate as they work towards a full qualification.
Improve’s development director, Derek Williams, said: “These new qualification options will be innovative in the way that they are linked to continuous improvement and the constant drive to boost performance in all areas of food and drink manufacturing.”
