Tributes paid to Hereford butcher
Hereford butcher Dennis Ogleby has died following a long battle with Parkinson’s disease and associated illnesses.
Established in 1924 by William Ogleby, Dennis took over the family business - Ogleby Butchers - in the 1960s and continued working in the shop until 2000.
“Most of the people I have spoken to say he was a popular, jolly butcher,” said son Chris. “He worked here for about 55 years. It’s a long time to work in the same spot.”
Dennis was born in 1931 in Lloyd Street across the road from the butchers in Portfields. He leaves widow Barbara, children Beverley, Richard and Chris, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
