MTC kits out 2 Sisters

 - Published:  04 January, 2010

The Meat Training Council (MTC) has kitted out 2 Sisters Food Group’s new state-of-the-art learning centre to help staff achieve key qualifications.

The chicken processor has already delivered more than 4,000 hours of training in 2009 and the new facility will help it reach its target of ensuring that four out of every five workers hold a recognised qualification in productivity by the middle of this year, as well as allowing it to extend its business improvement techniques.

So far, 135 employees have completed their NVQ level 2 in Food and Drink, with 50 currently training and another 100 expected to start soon. 2 Sisters’ investment in training has seen staff morale improve, absenteeism reduce, and staff turnover fall below 1%, while there has also been an improvement in product quality.

MTC chairman Bill Jermey said: “The meat industry is always competing with other sectors to recruit staff and retain them and training is a way to help motivate staff and encourage them to take pride in their work, as well as being an essential tool in improving productivity.”
