Wholesaler’s expansion boost to caterers
Meat wholesaler Clifton Quality Meats has announced it has opened a brand new cutting plant in Yorkshire to ensure it can meet demand that has been building across the region.
To celebrate, the Blackpool firm held a successful ‘Meat Awareness Day’ for customers, including the NHS, care homes and purchasing support groups at the National Coal Mining Museum near Wakefield.
Sales director Steve Lawton said: “In the current climate it is essential that chefs not only have access to a choice of consistently good-quality meat but also get the best value for money. Using the very best local farmers and taking a flexible approach to each of our customer’s needs – whether they’re large or small – we can ensure that they get this and more.
“The aim of the day was to show caterers in the North of England the benefits to their business from sourcing locally assured meat, particularly at a time when consumers are becoming ever more discerning and demanding.”
A Meat Masterclass by Eblex master butcher Dick van Leeuwen was also held, while visitors were able to try the company’s premium range of Northern Gold extra matured beef and quality lamb.
The meat catering company, now based over three sites including one on the Wakefield Europort, employs over 60 staff.
