Marzipan makes perfect stocking filler
|
Distributed in the UK by chocolate supplier House of Sarunds, the secret of the traditional recipe for Niederegger marzipan from Germany is said to do with the exact ratio of almonds to sugar, featuring an ingredient that is similar to rosewater.
Almonds are the basic ingredient of marzipan, and Niederegger pays careful attention to this when selecting the varieties to be used, sourcing almonds in Spain, Italy and other Mediterranean countries, so that only first-class goods make their way to its headquarters in Lübeck.
It is claimed to be the only premium manufacturer still producing its own almond and sugarpaste and the almonds are still roasted in traditional cauldrons. Production is also still personally supervised by master confectioners, making this another great gift idea for the stocking.
