National Butchers Week 2010
Work is already under way on next year's National Butchers' Week (NBW), with plans being formed to ensure the week is stronger than ever.
A steering committee of companies from across the butchery spectrum has been assembled by MTJ to take the week, now entering its third year, from strength to strength. The week takes place from 15-20 March.
The committee includes invited representatives from Eblex, Dalziel, Lucas Ingredients, Manchester Rusk Company, the Scottish Federation of Meat Traders Association, the Guild of Q, Bpex, Hybu Cig Cymru - Meat Promotion Wales, the National Federation of Meat & Food Traders and MTJ to name a few.
Ed Bedington, editor of MTJ, said: "The last two years have seen National Butchers' Week grow well and we want to continue to build on that growth. The aim of the week is to give butchers the chance to promote themselves and generate a real buzz about their business.
"This year we decided to pull together a steering committee, made up of the week's sponsors, supporters and interested organisations, to generate some fresh ideas and energy to keep pushing the week forward. We've already started to generate some good ideas and we'll continue to build on them. We're always keen to hear butchers' input too, so if you have some good ideas about things we can do during the week, do get in touch."
Previously, the week has seen widespread coverage for the butchery sector across regional and national newspapers and radio, with mentions on high-profile shows, such as Terry Wogan and Chris Evans on Radio Two. The week is being sponsored by Bpex, Dalziel, Eblex, Hybu Cig Cymru, the Manchester Rusk Company, Lucas Ingredients, The Dalesman Group and Jardine Lloyd Thompson.
