Vion celebrates training success

 - Published:  19 November, 2009

A Vion training initiative has proven successful, with eight supervisors achieving a management qualification following a work-based course.

The supervisors sat an intensive Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) course, which was delivered over five weeks with a final written exam at the end. The course was organised in partnership with Dereham-based Poultec Training Limited, one of the first work-based learning providers to become a National Skills Academy.

Course tutor Kevin Bowman said: “This has been a very successful course and the level of commitment to achieve this qualification was high, with candidates even coming in for sessions while they were on holiday.”

The attendees were presented with certificates and congratulated by general manager Brian Major during a presentation held at the company’s Witham site.

The course was part of a programme of events for Vion staff. Having achieved such success with the pilot group, the processor is now running a second course with a group of supervisors and a manager.
