2010 Scottish food fortnight announced

 - Published:  03 November, 2009

Event organisers have announced that another Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight will be held next year from 4-19 September.

The fortnight will continue to highlight the healthy, locally sourced food and drink available throughout the country, said the organisers, and the 2010 celebrations aim to be the biggest yet. A host of foodies, chefs, schools and enthusiastic businesses will be getting involved with events, which will be held the length and breadth of the country to showcase Scotland’s high-quality and diverse produce.

Paul McLaughlin, Scotland Food & Drink chief executive, said: “It is essential that we build on the success of Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight to cement the event’s aims in the minds of Scots. The quality of our produce must be celebrated to fuel our bid to build Scotland’s international reputation as ‘A Land of Food & Drink’.

“The Scottish food and drink sector is worth billions and we should support local businesses to sustain the economy, reduce our reliance on imports and cut down Scotland’s carbon footprint.”
