Tesco signs deal with duck producer

Lincolnshire-based Cherry Valley has secured the business to supply branded frozen whole ducks to Tesco in time for Christmas.

The Rothwell firm has announced it is supplying Tesco stores nationwide with Cherry Valley-branded A Grade whole duck, available in stores now.

Cherry Valley sales and marketing director Eric Jagger said: “Until last year, we had been out of the retail sector for some time, but this opportunity is part of a continued strategy to expand further in the sector, following our listing with Marks & Spencer last year.”

He added: “We are very excited about working with Tesco and delighted to see the product on-shelf.”

The product is available in a 1.9kg format and is claimed by the company to contain more meat and less fat than any other brand.

The listing is the second multiple retailer secured by Cherry Valley following its ongoing supply to Marks & Spencer, which began in 2008. This year, Marks & Spencer will again stock Cherry Valley’s Easy Carve with a Morello Cherry and Pork Stuffing seasonal product, alongside the rest of the range in the run-up to Christmas.
