Tulip appoints new UK chief exec
Dutch processor Tulip is hoping to build on its position in the UK market with the appointment of a new UK chief executive.
Steve Murrells, formerly an executive with Tesco, will take up the post on 7 October. He will be tasked with further establishing Tulip as a customer-focused UK supplier.
With a long history in the food industry, Murrells will bring a good deal of experience to the role. He held a number of positions with Tesco including meat buyer, fresh produce category manager and commercial director for fresh foods He also worked as chief executive of One Stop stores and buying department head at Sainsbury’s.
Carsten Jakobsen, Tulip’s UK chairman and CEO of Danish Crown, was acting as both CEO and chairman of Tulip UK prior to Murrell’s appointment. Jackobsen said he hoped Murrell’s appointment would enable Tulip to become even more customer-focused.
