Seasoning manufacturer Gordon Rhodes & Son has successfully retained a Grade A level certification with its recent British Retail Consortium (BRC) audit.

Part of The Dalesman Group, based in Bradford, West Yorkshire, Gordon Rhodes & Son supplies sausage seasonings and burger mixes, among other products.

Technical manager Jill Bartlett said: "Meeting the requirements of the additional clauses incorporated into Issue 5 of the Global Standard for Food Safety set quite a challenge for the Gordon Rhodes & Son management team. The company was confident that it had the capability, expertise and excellent site facilities to meet with the new standard and we set about our task by implementing a full review and rewrite of our Food Safety and Quality Management System."

The BRC Global Standards are a suite of four industry-leading technical standards that specify requirements to be met by an organisation to enable the production, packaging, storage and distribution of safe food and consumer products.

Bartlett added: "The company's commitment to quality and safety is first and foremost and, as a result, we have been rewarded with our 'Grade A' status achievement."
