ABP snaps up Dorset plant
ABP has announced the acquisition of Sturminster Newton Abattoir in Dorset. The company said the purchase added to its estate of strategically located beef processing facilities within the UK.
An ABP spokesman said: “The acquisition of Sturminster Newton Abattoir is important for the company and strengthens the relationships we currently have with our producers in the West Country.
“It enhances our strategy of providing local processing facilities and the plant will immediately receive new financial investment to significantly increase its throughput.
“All farmers supplying the Sturminster Newton plant will be able to access information about their cattle weights and grades electronically and will immediately benefit from the industry-leading conditions operated by ABP, including payment for their cattle on the day they are weighed.”
