Budgens to list Debbie & Andrew’s

From next month, Debbie & Andrew’s variants of Perfect Pork, Harrogate and Sicilian will be available to buy at Budgens, with a recommended retail price of £2.59 per pack.

David Shukri, meat buyer for Budgens’ parent company Musgrave, said: “We were interested in Debbie & Andrew’s, not only because of their status within premium sausages – which has huge sales potential for our retailers – but also because their sausages are perfectly suited to the convenience sector. Sausages are high-volume items in many of our stores, particularly in the summer for barbecues but also the rest of the year, when shoppers are increasingly looking for good-quality family food at affordable prices.”

Debbie & Andrew’s was set up in 1999 and sells premium sausages with a business worth £6m. The company claims to have nearly doubled sales year-on-year.

Andrew Keeble said: “Thanks to our traditional Yorkshire-turned-national brand status, we’re perfectly placed to supply to the convenience sector, offering both the personal touch and big brand expertise that smaller retailers are looking for.

“The fact we started out selling our sausages at local farmers’ markets and still attend over 100 shows across the UK each year, where we can meet our customers face-to-face, means we really understand the importance of convenience and what it means for both retailers and consumers.”
