Scotland butcher rakes in the money
A butcher in Scotland has achieved a whopping turnover after only taking over a business for one year.
Andrew Gordon of Andrew Gordon Butchery & Fine Foods claimed he had achieved a turnover of £500,000 in his first year in business, after taking over a well-known family-run butcher's firm in Aberdeen in 2008.
Andrew said: "The turnover for our first year has exceeded our expectations and we are very pleased with the figure, especially given the current economic climate.
"We are rapidly expanding our individual and corporate customer base and I think a vital factor in our success is that we offer top-quality products that people want, when they want it."
After leaving school, Andrew trained and worked as a butcher in Stonehaven for more than a decade before a change of path took him to international recruitment, luxury car sales and rental for an oil services company in the Middle East. But his passion for the butchery trade took him back to the north east a few years later. He added: "We have a full range of the very best quality beef, lamb, pork and chicken for every taste and budget. Also, we are open early and until 6.30pm four nights a week, making the shop very accessible for people going to and from work."
