Dick searches for Europe's best deboner
Butchers from the UK are being given the opportunity to go head to head against the European cousins in a bid to claim the title of Europe’s best deboner.
The 1st European Deboning Championships will be taking place on August 29 at Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Germany, and allows craft butchers to go up against industrial butchers in a bid to take the title of “best of the best”.
Competitors will be asked to debone three shoulders of pork in the initial rounds, and five pork shoulders in the final rounds, with judges assessing them on speed and appearance of finished product.
As well as the title, the winner stands the chance of riding away on a brand new Harley Davidson Street Rod motorbike, while other prizes include a €5,000 holiday and €2,000 cash.
The event is organised by processors Tonnies Fleisch and the German butchery association Friedr. Dick.
Registration forms must be submitted to Friedr. Dick by 24 July and are available on the internet at www.dick.de.
