Waitrose supplier improves its bacon output
A Dalehead Foods facility in Bury St Edmunds has installed a new Schröder IMAX 620 injector from Interfood Technology to increase bacon accuracy and consistency.
Part of the Tulip Group, Dalehead supplies supermarket Waitrose and needed a custom- made solution to provide low-pressure injection for its bacon processing. The IMAX injector features Schröder's MMI operator-machine interface, with a touchscreen to enable monitoring and digital control of all curing and processing data. The machine is said to guarantee accurate and consistent injection rates in all boneless and bone-in products and hourly throughput rates of up to seven tons per hour.
Dalehead Foods bacon unit manager Jon Winnan said: "Given that we supply to Waitrose, which is renowned for the quality of its products, quality in the production process is vital to us. Interfood's service and maintenance back-up was an important factor in our decision."
