Asda adds rural bacon

Asda has added a taste of rural Fermanagh to 20 of its UK stores as part of its Ethnic Ireland promotion.

The retailer will be soon be stocking its cabinets with bacon and pork products from Flynns Fine Foods, a family-run Irish company based at Roslea in rural Fermanagh, close to the border between Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic.

Flynns, which is providing bacon in 300g packs and bacon joints in 1kg packs to Asda for its meat promotions, is hoping this will lead to further listings across the retailer’s UK network.

Micheal Flynn, managing director of Flynns Fine Foods, says: “Winning a listing with Asda gives us an important springboard in Great Britain, a market that we’ve been targeting for some time. What sets us apart is a commitment to excellent products that offer an excellent price point advantage to our customers. In tune with healthy eating lifestyles, our bacon is very lean and low in salt.

“Another important feature of all our products is the strong branding, which emphasises the essential characteristic of our products in their strong rural roots in Fermanagh, one of the cleanest and greenest regions in Ireland.”
