Gluten-free sales jump
Debbie & Andrew’s gluten-free sausages have been enjoying a boost in sales during the start of Coeliac Awareness Week (11-17 May) this week.
The company said sales were strong across a number of major retailers, particularly Tesco.
The sales have been helped by an extensive sampling campaign in advance of the week among Coeliac UK members across the country.
Debbie & Andrew’s said that, on the back of the sampling, they have been receiving excellent feedback from gluten-intolerant individuals looking for a wheat- and dairy-free sausage.
Andrew Keeble, said: “We are delighted by the success of the new range and predict increased sales during Coeliac Awareness Week, especially as we are now in prime barbecue season.
“The direct feedback from coeliac groups has been really encouraging and we are planning extensive activity with their members this year.
“Our gluten-free sausages continue to do well because of their high meat content and because they are suitable for lots of different dietary needs. We are also seeing significant uplift in our core range, underlining the fact that shoppers are still prepared to pay a little more for great-tasting family food.”
