Scales to come clean
Avery Weigh-Tronix claims to have launched the food industry's easiest-to-clean floor scale range, with the development of the UK's first hinge-topped product.
With each weigh bar hermetically sealed to IP68, the new floor scale is designed for heavy washdown applications. The hinge top has stainless steel struts to lift the top deck and a safety latch that keeps the deck propped up while the under structure is cleaned.
The tubular frame is said to eliminate areas where contaminates such as food particles could hide. In common with other Avery Weigh-Tronix floor scales, the range uses the company's patented Weigh Bar weight sensor, which a 30-month study showed to be 15-25 times more reliable than competitive load cells, according to the company.
Available in a variety of sizes, the stainless steel tread plate provides a slip-resistant surface and is also available with a smooth plate.
The scale is supplied with a remote junction box, which can be wall-mounted up to 20ft away for extra protection during washdown. The junction box is supplied with a further 25ft of cable for attachment to an indicator.
