Advice on procuring lamb regionally

 - Published:  11 February, 2008

Public sector caterers are being invited to an event, this Thursday, which will show them how easy it is to procure lamb locally.

The event, organised by the South East Food and Drink Company at Firle Place, Firle, near Lewes, will focus on easy, practical steps public sector caterers can take to make their menu more seasonal, as well as giving them the opportunity to see this year's newly-arrived lambs.

After a tour of Place Farm, public sector caterers will watch a demonstration by the Meat & Livestock Commission's Master Butcher, learn about how UK livestock is raised, hear how buying regional meat can reduce their carbon footprint and, most importantly, find out how they can afford to put it on their menu.

The visit will include a local produce lunch and an opportunity to meet colleagues and suppliers over lunch.
