National Butcher's Week bigger and better than ever

 - Published:  03 April, 2009

The dust is still settling, but this year’s National Butchers’ Week was bigger and better than ever.

The event, organised by Meat Trades Journal, saw widespread coverage on how butchers can help save consumers money in the recession, and also a great deal of coverage generated by individual butchers.

The week got mentions in the national newspapers, regional papers and on radio, even getting a mention on Terry Wogan’s Radio 2 programme, thanks to our Champion of Champions winner Steve Vaughan and his top-notch sausages.

Ed Bedington, editor of MTJ, said: “The week appears to have been a big success – we’ve had a great deal of press coverage and butchers up and down the UK have seized the opportunity for a bit of publicity with both hands.

“Events like this are a great chance for the sector to stand out on the high street and we should all make the most of it as an opportunity.”
