Suspected Bluetongue Outbreak in North West

The suspected cases were found in Greater Manchester and Shropshire. If the tests are positive, the protection and surveillance zones would be extended to cover most of Wales and north-west England.

Livestock farmers are reminded to stay vigilant for syptoms of the disease, which can affect all ruminents. Symptoms can include swelling of the head and neck, lameness, high fever, excessive salivation and discolouration of the tongue.
