Poultec Wins Academy Status
Poultec Training in Dereham, Norfolk has been named as one of the first training centres within the new National Academy for Food and Drink Manufacturing.
It is a specialist training centre for meat and poultry food manufacturing and will form part of the academy, due to open in April.
The academy will be administered from Improve's head offices at York with the majority of training programmes delivered through a network of approved Academy Training Centres, including Poultec Training. It is anticipated that there will be 35 such centres within three years, training at least 28,000 people.
"This is a major new landmark in the training provision for food and drink manufacturers," said the chairman of Improve Paul Wilkinson, who is also chairman of two food manufacturers, Big Bear and Produce World.
"The National Skills Academy has been driven by employers' needs, has been designed by employers, and will be run by employers," he said.
Edward Bales, managing director of Poultec Training, said: "We are delighted to have been selected as one of the first Academy Training Centres.
"This status will enable us to continue to develop our Food Centre of Excellence and also our training provision to meet the needs of employers and individuals in the food sector."
