CONGRATULATIONS TO TEAM ON SUPER AWARDS
Now that the euphoria of the winners has calmed, I felt it appropriate to offer my congratulations to the team at MTJ, who managed this year's SuperMeat Awards.
For an industry that, for too long, has been production-driven, it was great to see so many examples of innovation and I would
applaud all finalists. However, when all is said and done, it is the people at the sharp end, the stores, that make the sales, so recognition of their efforts within the Awards sets the event apart.
I should add that John Inverdale's role as compere delivered sufficient irreverence to make for a fun, relaxed evening!
Planning is no doubt already under way for the 2008 Awards and the only (constructive) suggestion that I would offer is that consideration be given to streamlining a few of the awards. I'm now arranging store visits to sample some of the products, which, in my book, is enjoyable research!
