Nominate this year's winning personality

 - Published:  30 March, 2007

The hunt is continuing for the meat industry's Personality of the Year, to be crowned at this year's SuperMeat & Fish Awards.

Meat Trades Journal is still loo-king for your nominations for someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the meat industry. The deadline for your nominations for the award, which is sponsored by Interfood Technology, is 20 April.

The nominations will then be put before the entire industry for everyone to vote for their favourite, with the winner being revealed at the SuperMeat & Fish Awards ceremony on 19 June 2007, at the Park Lane Hilton in London.

Don't miss out on the opportunity and get your nomination emailed in to us at mtj.news@william-reed.co.uk, or call us on 01293 846567.

Meanwhile, judging is under way on the product categories for SuperMeat, with judges hard at work selecting the products to be crowned winners. Manufacturers supplying products to our participating retailers, Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's, Waitrose and the Co-operative Group, have all entered their best meat and fish products, hoping to claim a top award.

Sponsoring the event this year so far is the Vion Food Group, EBLEX, HCC - Meat Promotion Wales, Interfood Technology, the Danish Bacon & Meat Council, Bord Bia and BPEX, with more to be confirmed.

The awards, established by MTJ in 1999, aim to encourage new product development as well as honouring the top stores around Britain. Ed Bedington, editor of MTJ, said: "We're entering an exciting phase in Supermeat now, with the judges hard-pressed to select the best products from the hundreds of entries we've received. The competition is really beginning to heat up."
