SuperMeat winners toast their success
The great and the good of the meat industry gathered in London this week for the eighth annual SuperMeat Awards, organised by the Meat Trades Journal.
Set in the plush surroundings of the Hilton Hotel in Park Lane, the event proved a great success as supermarket staff both from the stores and head offices, along with suppliers and trade VIPs helped celebrate excellence in meat and fish retailing.
Winners on the night included Waitrose and Geest for their Beef Carbonade, which took the title of Best Product 2006. Tesco was also celebrating after its Extra store in Perth took the title of Best Store 2006. Ed Bedington, editor of MTJ, said: "The night was a fantastic success and I'd like to congratulate the winners of this year's awards."
