Polish range widened at the Co-op
The Co-operative has introduced a plethora of Polish products on to the shelves of its food stores to meet growing customer demand.
Since Poland joined the EU in 2004, there has been an increasing demand for products such as goulash, beef tripe and pickled cucumber.
The Co-operative Travel says that this coincides with a major uplift in numbers of flights to and from Poland - there are now four times as many flights per year between the UK and Poland than there were in 2004.
A small range of Polish products was introduced into selected stores in 2006, but because of the recent growth in demand, The Co-operative has extended its range to cover many different product areas from ready meals and pâtés, to sauces and soft drinks.
Salma Khan, category buyer for The Co-operative, said: "As well as keeping our Polish customers happy by providing an extended range of food products that will remind them of home, the increased range of products should appeal to many of our existing customers who have visited Poland or who simply want to sample something different.
"As well as a rise in mini-breaks to great Polish cities, such as Warsaw and Krakow, people in general are becoming more adventurous with food, so the extended range should prove popular."
