Scheckter joins force in burger initiative

Award-winning restaurant group Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK) has joined forces with 1979 Formula One World Champion racing driver Jody Scheckter, founder of Laverstoke Park Farm, to launch the Laverstoke Buffalo Gourmet Burger (£9.95) and the Wild Boar Gourmet Burger (£8.95) through 37 restaurants nationwide from this week
David Sykes, managing director for GBK, said, "We are very excited to be working with Jody and his team at Laverstoke Park Farm, and have worked closely with his butchers and chefs to create these speciality burgers."
He added: "We are confident that the two new additions will prove popular with burger lovers, as it gives them the opportunity to be adventurous and try something very different. It takes a lot to make it onto our well-established menu, but both GBK and Laverstoke Park Farm share a common philosophy; to simply be the best at what we do!"
The meat in the wild boar burgers is certified organic, and will be simply served with the freshest sourdough sesame seed bun, mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato and onion. For those who enjoy more complex taste, The Wild Boar Gourmet Burger has fresh roasted garlic infused with the meat, which can also be served with a special spicy redcurrant cranberry sauce. The Laverstoke Buffalo Gourmet Burger is a delicately flavoured, succulent meat, not dissimilar to beef, which has been gently seasoned with sautéed fresh onions and garlic and can be complemented by a 'zingy' mayonnaise.
Scheckter said: "My intention is to create a few long-term partnerships with some of the best companies in different sectors, whose standards and philosophies reflect our own, rather than just supplying our farm produce. Our research showed us that GBK had the most progressive and professional high-end burger specialist restaurants and they were delicious. I am very proud that Laverstoke Park will be the premier brand in all of the GBK restaurants.
