Food spend bigger in the north-west
People from the north-west spend more on Christmas food and drink than people from anywhere else in the UK, according to a new survey.
The 2006 Christmas Retail Survey, carried out by accountancy company Deloitte, found shoppers in the north-west spend on average £186 on festive food and drink.
This compares to a national average of £163. The same survey found that the Welsh spend more on Christmas gifts than anyone else in Britain, an average of £443.
