Leeds butcher goes hi -tech

award winning Leeds butcher, Wilsons of Crossgates, is to launch an on-line shop. The shop, which was named England's Best Butchers at the Journal's Top Shop Awards in 2005, has now added an ordering facility to its new-look website.

John Green, a partner at Wilson's, said: "Since our success in Top Shop, we have been inundated with enquiries from all four corners of the country, with many people asking how they can get hold of our award-winning pies and other products. In particular, our new range of giant personalised celebration pork pies is proving increasingly popular."

The hand-crafted pies, which weigh more than 3kg, are made

in-house and are said to be popular for special occasions. Some have even featured as three-tier pork pie wedding cakes.

"This is one of the reasons we upgraded the website - to meet ever-growing customer demand. It will allow online customers to receive mail order supplies of our products," said Green.
