Romanian Livestock Industry Turns to Britain
The Romanian government is looking to the UK for help in its quest to develop a burgeoning livestock industry.
Investment by Romania in its livestock industry is a government priority and the Romanian interest in British livestock farming was highlighted when the Romanian Minister of Agriculture, Dacian Golos, paid a visit to the Meat and Livestock Commission (MLC) stand at the International Exhibition of Livestock, Equipment and Agricultural products (Indagra).
An annual exhibition in its 12th year, Indagra was approved by the World Association of the Exhibition Industry- UFI- this year, which makes it the first Romanian exhibition in the field of agriculture and food recognised at an international level.
Although 26 counties were represented at the exhibition- held in Bucharest on 7-11 November- Britain had the largest presence, with over with 30 British exhibitors.
Live British animals on display at the exhibition included Aberdeen Angus and British Charolais beef cattle, Suffolk, Texel, Bluefaced Leicester sheep, plus goats and pigs.
Many other commercially important breeds were also represented together with veterinary services, farm supplies, fencing and the UK's leading specialist in tractor air-brake technology.
