Ludlow Food Centre Shortlisted in Rural Retailer Awards

 - Published:  14 November, 2007

An enterprising farm food store has been shortlisted in the regional finals of the Countryside Alliance Best Rural Retailer Awards.

Shropshire's Ludlow Food Centre, which has only been open for six months, has been nominated in the 'Best Local Food' category.

The store sources approximately 80% of its food and drink lines from local farmers, growers and producers. It also uses produce from the surrounding Earl of Plymouth Estate to create its own high quality range of fine foods in store.

Ludlow Food Centre is located on the A29 in Bromfield. It was recently featured on BBC Radio Four's Food programme and was awarded ten out of ten by Olive magazine for offering customers excellent value for money.

The company- which is one of the youngest contenders in the competition- is up against three other farm shops in the Midlands.

Regional judging will take place throughout November and the regional winners of the four categories will be announced in December. The winners will then be invited to the House of Lords in February 2008 to hear if they have been selected as overall UK winners for 2007.
