Chair of HCC to stay

Rees Roberts has been re-appointed as the chair of Hybu Cig Cymru-Meat Promotion Wales (HCC)

.

Roberts is a sheep and beef farmer from Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, Oswestry, Powys, and is a well known and respected figure in agricultural circles and has been chair of HCC since its inception in April 2003.

The announcement of Mr Roberts' appointment was made last week by Rural Affairs Minister Elin Jones.

Gwyn Howells, chief executive of HCC said: "HCC staff are all looking forward to continuing working alongside Mr Roberts and to move the industry forward during these challenging times.

He continued: "Over the past four years, Mr Roberts has led HCC through a series of difficult periods for the industry and we are confident that we can continue to do this and help Welsh farmers and other Welsh red meat businesses make the most of the opportunities that lie ahead."

Apart from his work with HCC, Roberts has a record of long service on behalf of the Welsh red meat industry. He led the previous red meat marketing organisation, Welsh Lamb and Beef Promotions Ltd, where he was chairman for three years and has also served on the Meat and Livestock Commission as Commissioner for Wales for the past eight years.
