Gold for Macsween
Edinburgh haggis specialist Macsween has won Gold for its traditional haggis in the 2006 Great Taste Awards, run by the Guild of Fine Food Retailers. Regarded as the Oscars of the fine food world, the Great Taste Awards recognise and reward exceptional standards of food and drink in the UK.
Macsween of Edinburgh is an independent family business with a claim to fame that its Edinburgh plant is the world's first custom-built haggis facility. It is how helmed by Jo and James Macsween, the third generation of Macsweens and the Gold Award is not the first time their products have been recognised. Last year the Macsween vegetarian haggis won Gold at the Great Taste Awards. The award is judged by blind tastings.
