BDCI dinner a resounding success
The Butchers and Drovers Charitable Institution raised £77,000 from an auction and raffle at its annual festival dinner in London's Park Lane Hilton last week
. Proceeds from the evening will take this well above that figure, said BDCI festival chairman Dennis Clark.
The auction included various sporting memorabalia including a cricket bat signed by Beefy and Lamby Sir Ian Botham and Allan Lamb donated by EBLEX, a Martin Johnson signed rugby shirt with access to Leicester rugby ground and a signed England football shirt. The raffle prize was a Peugeot 107 City Car.
The after dinner speaker at the BDCI festival dinner which attracted a record attendance 971 people, 50 more than last year, was Sir Jermey Hanley, a past chairman of the Conservative Party.
Clark said: "I thought it was a superb evening people supported it magnificently and in the tradition of the BDCI we raised a significant amount of money which will be put to good use. I thank everyone for attending and making it such a superb night."
