Workers accept Northern Foods plant closure

 - Published:  08 July, 2008

More than 730 staff at a Northern Foods plant in Lincolnshire have voted to accept redundancy.

Workers at the Fenlands Foods factory in Grantham accepted a package from Northern Foods, after Marks & Spencer decided to end production of its Italian ready meal range there.

Union officials said the manufacturer put forward a final offer to workers with improved terms, which were accepted.

The plant will now close in August.
