Vion expands its convenience operation

 - Published:  12 September, 2007

The Vion food group has announced plans to acquire Oerlemans Foods- a Dutch company specialising in fresh frozen vegetables, potato products and fruit.

Vion's Convenience division currently focuses on the development, production and marketing of convenience foods based on meat, fish and vegetarian products.

It is hoped that acquisition of Oerlemans Foods will enable VION to provide the retail and foodservice sectors with a total package of fresh frozen meat, potatoes and vegetables.

Under the terms of the takeover, the board of management of Oerlemans Foods will continue to work for the company and will be responsible for its integration into Vion's Convenience division.

The proposed acquisition has been submitted to the competition authority and VION plans to complete the transaction by October 2007.
