Strike at Breeo Foods averted

 - Published:  25 July, 2007

A strike at the Cork-based Breeo Foods, due to begin in the morning, has been averted following the intervention of the Labour Relations Commission.

Management at the company and SIPTU had differed over redundancy plans for 70 employees at a meat plant in Mitchelstown, which is due to close by the end of the year.

The dispute is to be referred to the Labour Relations Commission for further talks.

Breeo Foods is a subsidiary of Reox Holdings a company, which was spun off from Dairygold Co-Operative last year.
