Buffalo burgers for Waitrose
Former Formula One driver Jody Scheckter is launching the UK's first line of buffalo burgers.
Eco-farmer Scheckter's burgers will be sold by Waitrose through 23 of its stores in London and south-east.
The Laverstoke Park Farm burgers are named after Scheckter's 2,500-acre Hampshire farm.
Scheckter, who has a herd of 1,200 buffalo said he was confident the meat would prove popular beyond specialist farmers' markets, where it is usually sold.
"I've built up my buffalo over the five years," he said. "I wanted to diversify and buffalo was a niche market we knew would prove very popular because it has less fat than beef."
