Between 50 and a 100 jobs could be lost at a Norfolk meat processing plant as part of a business review.

The review at the Brooks plant at Little Melton near Norwich began three weeks ago.

Senior management taking part in the review say that the company has been going through a "difficult time. "

There are fears among staff that when details are announced up to half of the 200 strong workforce might have to go.

Brooks parent company, New Zealand based PPCS (Primary Producers Co operative Society) is in charge of the review.

The company, which specialises in packing and freezing meat for the European market, at one time employed 600 staff.

However it has been forced to cut back on staff numbers to become more competitive.

Staff at the plant confirmed to local media reporters that they had been told jobs would go, but said they had not been given specific details pending the outcome of the review.
