Mr BBQ Ltd has already won a gold at this year's Great Taste Awards for its beef biltong, and last year won gold for it lemon peppered jerky.

Owners Brian and Linda Bradley are delighted. Brian said: "We've been producing beef jerky and biltong in this country for three years now and during that time our products have gone from strength to strength, so we're delighted to have picked up this latest award.

"All our beef comes from cattle reared on farms in Northumberland and Durham and our products carry the English Beef and Lamb Executive's (EBLEX) Quality Standard Mark. We also avoid the use of any unnecessary additives in our products, so that what you get is a completely natural, tasty product with a deliciously chewy texture."

Beef Jerky is a high protein, low fat snack food. Because most of the moisture is removed as the meat is dried, it is lightweight and shelf stable, making it ideal for outdoor pursuits such as hill walking, climbing or camping. It is also healthier than many other snacks.
