Report catalogues red meat projects

A raft of research projects aimed at the meat sector are being highlighted by a new report from Quality Meat Scotland.

The projects, which are designed to have practical benefits, have been carried out as part of the Scottish industry's research and development strategy.

The report summarises results from a broad variety of research and development activities, which included low cost, self-feeding outwintering cattle systems and looking at the benefits of reducing footrot in sheep, to name a few.

QMS industry development manager, Andy McGowan said: "The success of any research strategy depends on getting new information out to the end user. A clear focus of our work is therefore making sure the Scottish red meat industry is aware of the practical research projects that are being carried out on their behalf and that individual businesses have access to the findings with a view to helping improve efficiencies and increase profitability."
