Turkey Golf Day raises £250k for physically disabled kids
CHILDREN WITH physical disabilities will benefit from £250,000 raised at the fourteenth British Turkey Golf Day, held earlier this month at the Belton Woods Hotel in Grantham.
The money raised will go to the Peter Alliss Masters wheelchair charity, a cause the organisers have supported since the event was established.
Roger Cooke, a director of Butterfly Poultry, Lincolnshire and John Roper of Cherryridge Poultry, in Cromer, Norfolk organised the event. Cooke said: "The event raises money for powered wheelchairs for the charity. The day is for members of the British turkey industry and the supply chain. There were about 150 golfers and 220 for the sit-down meal and in total we have raised £450,000 for Peter Alliss over the 14 years."
He added everyone enjoyed the day and £17,000 was raised through the golf auction where rounds of golf and weekend breaks were up for grabs.
