New MD spreads his wings
One of the brains behind Cherry Valley Farms' international success has been appointed the new managing director.
Richard Bird, who has lived and breathed Cherry Valley for the past 35 years, replaces Brian Whittle, who has left to pursue interests outside the industry.
Responsible for the continued growth of the global livestock business, Bird is one of the pioneers which made the Cherry Valley breed the choice of the world duck industries and an invaluable member of the corporate team.
Known to his Chinese speaking friends and colleagues as Mr Li, he said: "I am thoroughly looking forward to this new challenge. It comes at a time when the world duck industries are going through a period of rapid expansion and need a company such as Cherry Valley and its commitment to providing only the best.
"One of my key aims is to strengthen the company's position as the market leader in the breeding and processing of high grade duckling for the UK, European and Far East markets.
"As for our valued customers, they can rest assured that it will be business as normal."
